Nene Maiga
CEO, Orange Botswana
Néné Maïga became the CEO of Orange Botswana in September 2021 and she has led the company to significant growth in a challenging context.
Prior to that, she was Chief of Staff to the CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa from 2018 to 2021. In this position, she led structuring projects for the whole MEA region, aiming at improving value creation and inclusivity. She launched the first graduate program for the region, persuading dozens of high potential Africans in the diaspora to move back to the continent and contribute to developing digital services for Orange, including environmental projects, mobile financial services and innovations. She also initiated and still leads the gender parity 2025 program that aims at having sustainable gender parity at the highest positions in Orange Middle East and Africa.
From 2017 to 2018, she was CEO of Orange Finances Mobiles Mali, the leading financial service provider in the country with and achieved extremely strong growth in the number customers and revenues, while introducing new and innovative services that impacted the lives of Malian customers for the better. She joined Sonatel in 2016, after a couple of years working for Canal+ in Cameroon, the leading payTV business in the country. She had started her career in France as a consultant and then chose to go back to the continent of the future: Africa.
Néné Maïga is 35 and is from the region of Timbuktu, Mali. She holds a Master’s degree in Management from HEC Paris Grande Ecole. She believes that digital can be a tremendous tool in empowering people and solving real life issues in Africa, and she is happy to be a part of that transformation.
